Scheduling Your Session
I am consistently booked 4-6 weeks in advance. Please keep this time frame in mind when deciding upon a session date.
When scheduling your appointment, consider the needs of your children. Babies are often the happiest in the morning. Please do not schedule appointments for a couple of days following immunizations.
When doing pictures outside, think about "The Golden Hours". This is the first hour after sunrise and the last hour before sunset, as the lighting is best during this time. It is the most yummy, delicious golden light you can get.
To book a session, contact me (my name's Dena, by the way ;) ) at 828.835.2088 for a free consultation and to discuss a session and time that will work best for you.

Session Fees
When we schedule your appointment, a session fee is due to hold your session date and time. The session fee is non-refundable and may be paid in person at our studio or may be paid via online invoicing within 24 hours of appointment booking. Your session time will NOT be reserved until the session fee has been paid in full.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to reschedule an appointment please call me at least 48 hours in advance and a one-time transfer of your session fee will be allowed. If you do not call to reschedule an appointment, or you do not show up for your appointment, you will forfeit your session fee. At that time, you may call to schedule a new appointment and pay another session fee to secure your session.
If your child is sick or you have a family emergency, please call me as soon as possible and we will reschedule your appointment, with a one-time transfer of your session fee.

Preparing for your session
Simple clothing works best for black and white portraits, lending a timeless feel. Overalls, jeans, khakis, simple white dresses, white and black shirts all work well. If you want Color-Popped Portraits(tm), let me know and I will discuss options with you during your consultation.
We have tutus as well as a large assortment of hats and headbands that work great in Color-Popped Portraits(tm).
Bare feet are a lot of fun in pictures, but if you choose to wear shoes, please wear simple dark shoes and socks. (Unless you want to look like a clown and then, by all means, please wear large white shoes! ;) ) We also have many clothing suggestions on the blog - Check it out!

Your Ordering Session
Your portraits will be ready for previewing approximately two to four weeks after your portrait session. When your images are ready, we will schedule an appointment for you to view your digital previews. You will relax and watch a video of your images set to music. After that, we will preview individual images and make selections based on your favorites. When you make your final selections, you will then place your portrait order. All orders must be placed and paid for at this time. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY AVAILABLE ORDERING SESSION.
Please think about what size portraits will fit on your walls, and if you will be ordering any prints as gifts before your ordering session.
You may also choose to have your images transferred to an online gallery from which you may order for an additional 60 days with a $500 print-order prepayment.
Please allow 4-6 weeks after viewing for your orders to be completed. Boutique items such as framed storyboards, custom cards, gallery wraps, jewelry and storybooks will take longer. This means you will have your prints in hand within 4-10 weeks after your photography session.

Why so long?
We strive for perfection in our prints. Unlike the discount photography chains, we spend anywhere from 15-30 minutes processing each image whether you buy it or not. Our post-processing has been developed using traditional print developing techniques such as dodging, burning, and retouching and we apply this digitally to all of our images.
"...I am not doing more in Photoshop than what professional photographers did 50 years ago in the darkroom. Professional photographers have always post-processed their photos. That's not something new with digital photography. Anybody can take a digital photo but it takes an Artist to capture someone's personality and then create a portrait from that shot. The portraits are then printed using the best professional print labs. Each portrait is printed on a linen-finished or metallic paper for outstanding results. We also offer custom canvas gallery-wraps, floating prints and wall art, which are not available at discount chains."

If you are looking for high-quality portraits that capture the most precious moments of your life, then we look forward to working with you.
